So I wrote a book
Countless people shared their hard-earned wisdom and insights to help me keep my hardships in perspective. It’s my turn to pass them on — so I wrote a book.
My book is my journey, but writing itself was also a journey.
As I started writing, I also wanted to take writing courses. The first one was a free webinar. At the end of the webinar, I asked: English is my second language. Do you have any other students like me?
She replied, “oh, yes,” she continued, “I suggest you hire a ghostwriter. Everyone does. Would you like me to connect those writers?”
I said no.
“Then, why don’t you write it in your language? We have a group of translators, too.”
I was a ghostwriter once, also a translator. So I know there are wonderful fellow writers, but that’s not the point. I wanted to write my story by myself.
It was a wake-up call for me: I had to change my self-image from English as a Second Language speaker to a writer, a serious one. I needed to start putting the right message out there.
How I treat myself reflects on who I believe I can be. So I changed that, and many tears and sweats later, I did finish my book.
I’m an author. A published author. I’m glad I didn’t give up.
